I'm carving a marble cherub for a large fireplace.

We visited my friend Andrea Chiesi, a master moldmaker from Florence. He makes casts of classical sculpture. I took these photos in his studio.
|
Look closely to find the third cat hidden behind his friends- he was camera shy. I spotted them in the tiny Tuscan hill town of Montevettolini. |
Our
friend Simone took us on a tour of Tuscan hill towns. Here he is with my wife in a 15th
century villa that was built by the Medici family in the town of Cerreto Guidi.
The walls are covered with "trompe d'oeil" ("fool the eye")
frescos, realistic, seemingly three-dimensional scenes.
|
A couple of grotesques from the town of Vinci, birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci.
|
|
We
also visited the towns of San Miniato, Porcari, and Montecatini. Our trip continues with a visit to the Alabaster center of Volterra. |
