While my work spans a very broad range of subjects, gargoyles have always held a special place in my heart. This is where I feel most free to express my personal style, and to let my technical skills loose as I explore the feel of the stone under my chisel. Technically, the word "gargoyle" shares a root with the word "gargle"; both words come from gargouille, an old French term for "throat." A true gargoyle is a waterspout. An unusual carved creature that does not serve such a purpose is properly called a "grotesque."
