The King of Cappuccino

On this rainy, foggy day we toured the medieval hill town of Volterra, center of alabaster work.

alabaster samplesThe finished candlestick along with different colored samples of  alabaster. They are sitting on an architectural fragment carved in yellow marble from the nearby city of Siena. 
12th century romanesque archwaygrotesque handle on a bowlThe Museo Storico dell'Alabastro (Historic Alabaster Museum) is housed in a restored 12th century convent in Volterra's Piazza XX Settembre.

It houses over 300 beautiful alabaster objects.
